Renaissance Tower, the landmark 56-story, 1.7 million SF downtown Dallas high-rise, won the Dallas Building Owners and Managers Association’s (BOMA) prestigious Building of the Year Award in the over 1 Million Square Feet Category. The award recognizes many years of commitment by the Renaissance Tower Management Team and their vendors that set the benchmark ever higher in preserving the building’s Class “A” status. For over three decades, Renaissance Tower, affectionately called RenTower, has been a proud part of the distinctive Dallas skyline. Designed and completed in 1974 by HOK of Dallas as a 56-story gold glass box, Ren Tower underwent a major renovation in 1986 that included remodeling all of the public areas and significant building exterior changes. One of the most impressive was the addition of a nine-story glass pyramid as a street-level entrance to the underground shopping areas in the public plaza on the west side of the building. The building façade was enhanced with a distinctive “X” cross bracing with a glass design that expresses the modernized property. Decorative framework adorns the top of the building that houses a communications complex. The tower soars 886 feet, making it the second tallest building in Dallas. At night the illuminated double “X” pattern of each façade gives Renaissance Tower a uniquely beautiful signature in the skyline.
